Event Companion Taming: Arzaz

be swift!

The rapids of the Breklauss Ravine were unforgiving to the fish within the white caps, let alone any who were unfortunate enough to fall within them. While no longer a pup, a youthful Hellhound who still hadn't quite managed to master this realm clamored the terracotta stones at the base of the ravine. The shallow ground bid along each side were treacherous, even for this sure footed and confident canine. Like a shadow she crept over the stones, eyeing some silvery salmon beneath the undulating, rushing surface of the rapids. Low to the ground she crept along a jutting stone, her skull mask turned below to the waters. Slowly, she rose a paw and leaned over the edge, eager for her easy meal to wade close enough for her talons to swipe it from the waters.

Closer... closer... Arzaz's paw shot like a bolt, plunging into the muddy waters and sinking her curled claws into the side of a fat salmon, before pulling it from the water. But the fish was half her size as a babe, and as she pulled it up to her with eager and waiting jaws, it thrashed violently. It's tail slapped her across the face repeatedly and water rained from her pelt and the fish's slippery scales until the outcrop was thoroughly drenched. With fin still in her face the canine snapped, flames within conjuring with the rise of her rage, until... she slipped. Accompanied by the fish, the hellhound youth fell into the rapids with a yelp for help.

Silence is our Fate

The unicorn really didn't know why she was leaving the safety of Tryggr lands. An adventure really wasn't something she had been searching for, at least not now. The cuts on her legs had finally scabbed over but they still ached and she winced every time her front legs were extended or bent. If she could have the mare would have stayed within the trees and ignored the call but it was like when she had found her little bit of telepathy. There was no ignoring the pull of magic since it seemed as though it had taken control of her body.
The sense of urgency it instilled kept Ezera from fighting against it. Something was wrong somewhere, or about to be wrong, and she had to be there to help. So she ran, dark hooves eating up the distance between home and wherever the magic was taking her. Somehow she managed to avoid anything that might detour her but she didn't have time to question if it was luck or something more. By the time she slid to a stop at the edge of a ravine her breath was forcing its way in puffs through the gaps of her sewed mouth. The mute struggled to take in air while also trying to figure out what to do now.
The pull was gone but the urgency still remained and almost seemed to be getting stronger. Closing eyelids hid the bright gold for a moment while the mare tried to find out where the feeling came from, or why it was there. She had almost given up and started searching by sight when the yelp echoed over the sound of the water. Before Ezera's eyes had even opened all the way she was racing along the edge of the cliff in the direction of the sound. By the time she had made it to just above the water, somehow managing not to tumble in herself, whatever had made the noise was already under.
Without even stopping to consider her options, or even come up with something much better, the unicorn leaped in after it. The water was like a shock to her system and she froze for a moment, suddenly confused and unsure as to why she had just done that. The answer came a moment later when she caught sight of something glowing but fading fast as it tumbled through the water. Pushing away the confusion Ezera pushed herself after it while also struggling to get her head above the water. The current threw her against more rocks than she could count but the need to get to whatever had called for help made her determined to ignore them and get closer.

be swift!

The mare's sacrifice does not go unnoticed. Struggling to stay above the white caps herself, Arzaz's paws rake out for whatever purchase she can find in the torrential waters, but her eyes see the black unicorn as she plunges in after the hellhound. They both struggle for some time, until both Ezera and the legendary beast manage to scramble upon stones. Arzaz garners only a weak grip on smoothed rocks, tossing an alarmed, pleading glance over her shoulder to the unicorn that was fighting to restlessly to save her. And somewhere within the beast, she knew that this mare had come for her and that their passing was of no fleeting consequence. With whines slipping through her teeth the hellhound launches from the rocks back into the the rapids, fighting to try and get towards the drifts that the mare had managed upon.

But the companion fails, slipping back and colliding into the stones that had once been her savior. She struggles again to find a solid hold upon the water beat stones, casting yet again another weary, frightened look over her shoulder. Arzaz could not make it back to Ezera's perch, but the mare could easily get to her with proper timing and execution. It seemed only one course of action... meet, and flee the rapids and whatever cost. A yelp shrieked from the young canine's maw, her horror palpable.

Something is happening! Ezera has the chance to save the Hellhound Arzaz! Take your chance now, secure a companion, and escape the waters!

Silence is our Fate

Her body felt like it was filled with stones by the time she pulls herself out of the water. Water runs from the unicorn's coat while her wide eyes search for where the pup had gone. The amount of relief that flooded her system almost made Ezera's knees buckle but it was short lived. Unable to say anything to the pup she watched as it jumped back into the water in what looked like an attempt to get to her. Frustration wells up inside of her while she tries to figure out what to do.
Going back into the water would be the last resort, especially if there had to be a better way. Despite the exhaustion that urged her to give up the black mare scans the area and manages to find a way to the pup along the rocks. Once she was standing right above the strange pup she struggled for a moment to decide on the best way to get her out.
Any other equine might just grab it by the scruff and pull it out but with the thread that really wasn't an option for her. Out of frustration and at the sound of the cry Ezera took a chance. She bent down so that she was on her knees and dunked her head into the water in an attempt to either scoop the pup out or allow it to grab hold of her. Either way it had to be quick otherwise she would run out of breath.
