Welcome to Slidr River Valley, home to the strong, the brave, and the resilient. Challenging the odds surmounting against them, the Houses of equine fight in a power struggle for ultimate control over the Valley. With the Bloodless fading away after the First Great Winter of Three, Fimbulvetr, the Slidr River Valley is in a state of discord as the Houses throw themselves into an arms race for power. From predators to the gods themselves every day ushers in a new obstacle to overcome. Fimbulvetr is a literate intermediate-advanced fantasy horse role-play with a survivalist concept. The environment is designed to work against your characters as they move forward in their journey through the arcana riddled realm of Slidr River Valley. With an immense history and lore, we encourage our members to create locals and "outsiders" alike.

Autumn Year 501 | The heat has broken, and the trees of the Valley begin their transition from emerald to citrine and rubine. The temperatures steadily drop as the progression of Autumn claims all of the Slidr River Valley and plunges it into the hallowed solstace. Snow already weightlessly falls from the sky on cold nights - especially to the North and West. The Laurel Alps and Frior Mountain Range begin the process of wrapping themselves in thick white blankets of snow, leaving the once purple snowcapped border of the continent a stark white crescendo on the horizon. To the East, the heat wave has finally broken. The staggering temperatures have fallen simply from the harsh miles of wind sweeping from the mountainous vales and into the bowl of the desert. Those huddling in the Frekr Oasis for salvation will find the nights frigid. Best light the plinth fires and stock up for the winter, for it is just around the corner.

Ragnor Snow

Behemoth, monumental, Herculean. All these describe the tower that is Ragnor. A mountainous creature due to his Sleipnir heritage, this half-wit creature stands well above 20hh. To assure he does not seem disproportionate, heavy muscle laces intricately across his frame create a robust nape, finely chiseled shoulders, sloping abdomen, and powerful haunches. His legs are like tree trunks, steady and grounded as well as substantial in diameter.

While his height is his only conformational abnormality, his coat coloration does strike quite odd. While alabaster not unlike a paint covers most of his dorsal, with a full face of white, the rest of his coloration is a delightful periwinkle. Along his limbs, a dark royal purple ascends from obsidian hooves - save for his right hind which is enveloped in full alabaster. The inky lavender shade tapers off towards the periwinkle high upon his extremities, above the knee and hock. The same purple, slightly saturated, is seen within his tassels as well. Their primary color is a straw-like blonde mixed variously with dusty brown. Sprinkled all across his coat are ebony speckles that match that of a minimal leopard appaloosa.

Two small spots rest beneath and behind his left eye, providing a false sense of beauty marks. Upon a rounded visage that displays, somewhat unfortunately, the dim wit beneath his thick skull, two small sage visionaries surrounded in peachy lids. His thick skull seems to continuously round from the forehead to his muzzle despite the sharp and stout jowls he boats.

Ragnor, bless his soul, is the typical outcome of a half-breed. The fellow is none too smart, understanding only simple things and becoming aggravated when approached with complex concepts and words. Despite his best attempts to be patient, the beast often loses his patience if persisted upon and is known to lashes out at those nearby by, both verbally and physically. It is not intentional for he knows no better than a toddler. A toddler is easy to reign in compared to a giant, lumbering stallion.

The half-breed knows of his differences from others; although he cannot quite comprehend or describe what the difference is. Still so young, and from a lonesome youth, he hides behind the walls erected to protect his fragile, mental and emotional state. All too often he destroys his own walls out of altruists intentions to help those in need. Perhaps that stems from his own history of when there was no one to help him when he needed it the most.

The beast is a homebody. However, if others wish to go on a whirlwind adventure he will gladly follow along simply for the company. Those who interact with him he quickly becomes attach to, forming in some cases, an unhealthy obsession and possession of them. Given his size, few can tell him "no." Given his earnest nature, most appear to know that this toddler-like possession is out of nothing more than craving a parental figure to care and love him.

Only two years of age, there is not much to Ragnor Vetr. A bastard child of an old, decrepit Ambrosius commoner, his birth nearly killed his old matronly mother. She, unfortunately, did pass not many weeks after his suckling days had ended. Some gossiped she had held on long enough to see the boy to weaning before passing beyond into the jaws of Jörmungandr. Not long afterwards, the simpleton foal wandered aimlessly in Nógr Evergreens. Aging rapidly, as true to his bloodline of half Giant, Ragnor found no allies nor friends among the other Ambrosius equine. That was, until one day, a set of young colts set the poor thing off.

Having ventured into the central territories while chasing a colorful butterfly, a group of two young colts had their go at the boy. Enraged by their tattling and prodding, the hulking beast lashed out much like a violent, uneducated toddler. A particular person to witness this altercation was Queen Fredrekke of Ambrosius. Astounded by the young man’s strength, albeit unbridled and lethal, the Ambrosius queen ordered the young man be brought before her. Confused, and scared, the massive colt cowered beneath the pointed glare of the queen. But, rather than discarding him to the dire wolves, she invited him to be her ward. Since, Ragnor has followed the queen like a well trained hound.
