With the Bloodless fading away after the First Great Winter of Three, Fimbulvetr, the Slidr River Valley is in a state of discord as the Houses throw themselves into an arms race for power. From predators to the gods themselves every day ushers in a new obstacle to overcome. Fimbulvetr is a literate intermediate-advanced fantasy horse role-play with a survivalist concept. The environment is designed to work against your characters as they move forward in their journey through the arcana riddled realm of Slidr River Valley. Autumn Year 501 | The heat has broken, and the trees of the Valley begin their transition from emerald to citrine and rubine. The temperatures steadily drop as the progression of Autumn claims all of the Slidr River Valley and plunges it into the hallowed solstace. Snow already weightlessly falls from the sky on cold nights - especially to the North and West. The Laurel Alps and Frior Mountain Range begin the process of wrapping themselves in thick white blankets of snow, leaving the once purple snowcapped border of the continent a stark white crescendo on the horizon. To the East, the heat wave has finally broken. The staggering temperatures have fallen simply from the harsh miles of wind sweeping from the mountainous vales and into the bowl of the desert. Those huddling in the Frekr Oasis for salvation will find the nights frigid. Best light the plinth fires and stock up for the winter, for it is just around the corner.

Nepthys is a fairly simple being when it comes to design. She is of Murgese decent, and definitely shows the intricacies of this elusive breed. Her head is refined in a curve ending in a beautiful jawline. Her facial features are quite defined with every muscle that she moves. Neph’s neck is perfectly proportionate to her head, but thickens and muscles up near the base. This makes way for her “stocky” profile. Neph’s chest is broad and almost seems out of place. From there, she slims out as you travel to her rump, and her legs are long and sinewy.

The colors that paint Nephthys are quite contrasting. She is an opaque black with cyan-colored points around her ears, nose, stomach, and stifle. Neph has slight dappling inside these blue markings. Her mane and tail are always messy and hardly kept. They are both wiry and almost oily to the touch. The same blue on her body runs wildly through her mane. Neph’s hooves are iridescent blue and catch even the smallest amount of blue. Her eyes are the colors of grandidierites. They constantly glow no matter the situation. Neph’s body will also glow the same shade of blue when angered.

In the sun, Nephthys seems to show brown in her coat.

Nephthys is your typical grouchy, good-for-nothing necromancer. On the surface she seems cool and collected. She’ll make sarcastic remarks and crack corny jokes to try and keep in good graces, but below is something more sinister. Nephthys has a horrible temper. Small inconveniences and comments that she doesn’t like will set her off immediately. She does not transition well between moods either. She will explode into a rage quicker than you can snap your fingers. You will know that Nephthys is angry as her entire being glows blue.

This fiery girl is also very hard to tame. The only thing to satisfy Nephthys’s appetites are bets. Neph cannot resist a bet no matter how ridiculous.

Nephthys has an eye for everything dark and creepy. She can be seen fashioning necklaces and jewelry out of old animal bones. If Nephthys isn’t hunting for new bones she can be found making bets with the dead she has raised for one of theirs. Nephthys keeps a secret collection of her favorite bones tucked away in different hiding spots.

Nephthys was born ten years ago. As most, she was born to a dam and a sire who were very much infatuated with one another. Her history is quite boring. But her present story is far more interesting.

She does not remember her childhood. She doesn’t remember her mother or her father. In fact, Nephthys doesn’t really remember a lot from her life before the age of nine. Nephthys died last year, and by some miracle she was raised from death’s clutches and granted the gift of necromancy. With this gift came the inescapable amnesia. Neph’s earliest memory is of her covered in maggots and flies and waking up from nothing but the dark. She was reborn into this world with a purpose. She is soulless, and she walks this world with no other goal than to reap and avoided being reaped. Eventually Nephthys will earn the visions of her childhood, but she will not know that it is her childhood that she is seeing. She will forever be bitter over her lost memories.

As Nephthys strides into the Bifrost, she is stripped from all powers. Nephthys will always be aware of the powers she has lost, and will reference them before these powers are realized once again.

A p p r e n t i c e
As an apprentice Necromancer, Nephthys gains the extraordinary power of Death Sensing. This means that she can tell when death is approaching any living thing. This also means that Nephthys can determine a not-so-accurate reading of when someone may die, but she may only do so if she is asked. She cannot determine her own death, or even sense it coming.

A d e p t
Incantation comes out to play as Nephthys breaches into an adept arcana. Whispers of spells and commands bring forth many different small powers. Unfortunately as an adept power, these spells will fizzle out early or simply not come into being. With practice, Nephthys will be able to hold her incantations longer and with more accuracy. In this stage of Arcana, Nepthys can feel her next power bubbling just below the surface.

M a s t e r
Master necromancy requires concentration. At this level, Neph can resurrect the dead and summon souls for aid in fighting, problem solving, and general conversation. As a master necromancer, this portion of Nephthys’s arcana is the easiest to pull off. Neph can animate the dead for prolonged periods of time without tiring.

V i r t u o s o
As a final hoorah, Nephthys gains the power of immortality to escape dying of old age. She will cease all aging and be forever young. However, this does not make Nephthys indestructible. Nephthys will still die if fatally wounded.
