Welcome to Slidr River Valley, home to the strong, the brave, and the resilient. Challenging the odds surmounting against them, the Houses of equine fight in a power struggle for ultimate control over the Valley. With the Bloodless fading away after the First Great Winter of Three, Fimbulvetr, the Slidr River Valley is in a state of discord as the Houses throw themselves into an arms race for power. From predators to the gods themselves every day ushers in a new obstacle to overcome. Fimbulvetr is a literate intermediate-advanced fantasy horse role-play with a survivalist concept. The environment is designed to work against your characters as they move forward in their journey through the arcana riddled realm of Slidr River Valley. With an immense history and lore, we encourage our members to create locals and "outsiders" alike.

Autumn Year 501 | The heat has broken, and the trees of the Valley begin their transition from emerald to citrine and rubine. The temperatures steadily drop as the progression of Autumn claims all of the Slidr River Valley and plunges it into the hallowed solstace. Snow already weightlessly falls from the sky on cold nights - especially to the North and West. The Laurel Alps and Frior Mountain Range begin the process of wrapping themselves in thick white blankets of snow, leaving the once purple snowcapped border of the continent a stark white crescendo on the horizon. To the East, the heat wave has finally broken. The staggering temperatures have fallen simply from the harsh miles of wind sweeping from the mountainous vales and into the bowl of the desert. Those huddling in the Frekr Oasis for salvation will find the nights frigid. Best light the plinth fires and stock up for the winter, for it is just around the corner.

Borne of the cosmos, Aerglo is a hallowed child of the starts.

Leggy, with well-rounded hips and a refined chest, he moves with a certain grace known only to him. Blush colored hooves featherlight as they gently caress the ground, Arlo, with every move - even the most subtle - are well made. An elegant neck connects at the base of willowy shoulders, arching to a kind, narrowed face.

Atop his head, sitting just above a pair of periwinkle eyes, a crystal-like horn rises to meet the sky. It emits a subtle glow in the presence of the moon and the heated rays of the sun, shining like silver and twinkling as bright as a polished diamond; ethereal. But when light is no longer present, it allows one to see from one side to the other, making it appear glass-like - nearly transparent if not for a slight distortion.

Arlo’s body is covered by a beautifully designed buckskin tobiano pattern. His head, although a dark point, is less severe than the dark points at his legs. Lightened by a stripe and snip that fades into fleshy pink skin at his nose, the hairs surrounding his eyes and following the bridge of a slight Roman nose, are a pearl gray.

From the tender curve of his haunches grows a long, two-toned tail that tapers into a midnight sapphire. His mane too, silken and dichromatic, travels over and down the slope of his shoulders, transitioning from a milky white to a faded blue in much the same way.

Romantic & Adventurous. As a gypsy, Arlo quickly tires of life's everyday routine. He craves adventure and all of the intensity that comes with it. Certainly, not one to linger in one place for too long, he believes in spontaneity, allowing impulse to drive his decisions more often than not. And although this has gotten him into trouble in the past, he’s intelligent enough to learn from his mistakes, and when treading on unknown territory, he now proceeds with a bit more caution.

A Dreamer. Sharing the same broad imagination as his sire, he enjoys nights spent under the stars, recounting the tales of each known constellation.

Optimistic & Brave. Looking at the glass as half-full, it's rare for him to ever hold much doubt or feel any sort of glum for anything, and if he does, it's never for very long. Death, however, is a completely different story. When compared with his knack for always throwing himself into a dangerous situation in careless abandon, the loss of a close friend or family member is terrifying.

Wild & Stubborn. Arlo is still young and influential, but there are some things that may never change. Born with a wild spirit; free and unchallenged, Arlo can prove quite stubborn when he wants to be, but there are instances where his insecurities might get the best of him and he decides to comply rather than have to face up to a confrontation - he doesn't much believe in starting up tactless arguments.

  • Arlo's parents belonged to a band of gypsies. They traveled frequently, never straying far from the fringes of neighboring Houses where they would often trade and peddle their wares back and forth with the nobles who resided there.
  • His father was a researcher who prided himself in his work as an astrologist. He taught his son the pattern of the stars, spoke of the different histories behind each constellation, and showed him how to map out his location from the night sky's spectacular display. As a family, the trio would often sit out amongst the stars, enjoying each others company while basking in their immortal glow.
  • He learned much from his parents and the other gypsies, but he also took from the different Houses that they would visit, his interest in their politics unusually high.
  • As he grew older, he turned into an adventurer of sorts and was known to wander off for several days at a time. Of course, had he not been accompanied by his father's snowy owl, Zelda, then this behavior might have been discouraged.
  • On a not so rare night of celebration for the gypsies, a dark entity swept into their otherwise jovial campsite. A sizable pack of wolves headed by an abomination, they were fast and organized. The gypsy band stood little chance, and at the ushering of his parents, Arlo fled from the chaos. With Zelda at his back, he managed to evade most of the fiends, but eventually, his luck did run out. He was nearly set upon by the massive wolf that had already torn through much of their camp with little to no resistance, but with a deafening screech, Zelda dove from the skies, her talons cutting through the air like daggers. She tore at its eyes, buying the colt enough time to make a run for it. And run he did.
  • He ran for the central territories of the Valley, where he waited for his family to try and locate him, but they never came. Hesitant to return to their camp without Zelda, whose distance was now too great for their shared mental connection, Arlo, for the time being, decided to remain near Slidr Lake.
Frigokinesis: By reducing the kinetic energy of atoms, frigokineses, or snow manipulation, grants the ability to create, shape and manipulate snow.

Apprentice: As his arcana begins to manifest, Arlo, unlike most others at his age, is quick to garner control. His abilities, although limited at this point, are performed with uncanny accuracy. Manipulation of the moisture in the atmosphere can cause the temperature around him to plummet as ice crystals collide, sticking together to become snowflakes. He can create a sudden flurry that, while only lasting for as long as nature may allow, blankets the ground in a thin white sheet. Water, such as the formation of dew by way of condensation during the morning or evening hours, can be frosted or iced over, but strangely, this takes much more out of him and will often leave him with a troubling headache that lasts for the next couple of hours.
Adept: With measurable practice, his arcana gradual improves to the point where he no longer needs to adjust the temperature as much to allow for crystal formation - the air already naturally more crisp in his immediate vicinity. A flash snowstorm that is capable of at least 3-5 inches of snow, is now possible. Manipulating ice from water has gotten easier, but he's still prone to headaches and exhaustion.
Master: Now able to effectively manipulate the concentration and total force of his snowstorms, he's progressed substantially in his abilities. The formation of snow to create projectiles or even an emission, a steady beam of snow, is a great offensive attack that he relies heavily upon whenever the situation may call, as it's the easiest for him to manage without having to face any adverse effects afterward. Hail is achievable, but not something he yet excels at.
Virtuoso: Should anyone find themselves within one of Arlo's snowstorms, they'll quickly come to the realization that there is no escape. Although the temperature does drop dramatically, the frigid air is only half of the effect. The snow is blinding, and a thick barrier has formed at the border of his range, resembling that of a tornado or hurricane. There's no way to penetrate it without using one's own arcana. The same crystals in the air that he uses to form snow is also used in the creation of hail. Ice blasts leave him drained, but straining no longer causes an unbearable pounding in his skull.

Outfits and Armor: On the special occasion, Arlo is known to don a thinly threaded, sheer cloak. The fabric, although predominantly transparent, is woven with hues of powder blue. It's held in place by four silver bands that loop around at the nape, connecting with a round medallion where the material is bound on either side.

Companion: Zelda, a snowy owl, was the long-time companion of Arlo's father. She bound herself to his son shortly after his birth, taking to the foal like no other. There isn't much she wouldn't do in order to protect him.
